Laser marked Practice Plate Trio
Developing skills in hand engraving is all about muscle memory, and the only way to develop that is by repetition. And lots of it. Like learning to play a musical instrument, the more you practice the better you get. Simple math!
The symmetrical plate features of center flower rosette surrounded by shaded scrolls and flower clusters. The classic outside repeating leaf border is often found on jewelry, weapons, and other engraved items.
The foldover plate is a good introduction to the folding leaf tips which add interest and dimension to your work. Hone your skills on these and use them in your own designs. They are extremely useful and will expand your vocabulary of ornamental design elements.
The scroll sampler plate contains four scrolls of various sizes. A narrow one which you might use on wedding bands, a ring shank design which may be used on the sides of a signet ring or similar, and a couple of larger scrolls for practice.
NOTE: Laser engraved on both sides.
The practice plate contains the outlines only and not the shading details. Users will refer to the included printed reference for shading placement.
These are steel practice plates used in hand engraving classes for decades, and can contain irregularities from manufacturing. They do not have flawless, pristine finishes. They are mild steel and cut beautifully.
